Trees a Poem by Joyce Kilmer (Photos)       TREES by: Joyce Kilmer   (1886-1918) I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earths sweet flowing breast; A  tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to  pray;   A tree that may in Summer  wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow  has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like  me, But only God can make a tree. Joyce Kilmer is mostly known for his poem, œTrees, published in the 1914 collection, Trees and Other Poems, after it first appeared in Poetry magazine in August 1913. Kilmer wrote œTrees on February 2, 1913, at his home in Mahwah, New Jersey. The poem was dedicated to Mrs. Henry Mills Alden(Ada Foster Murray Alden), his wifes mother and a poet in her own right.                                                   Share ThisSubscribedel.icio.usFacebookRedditStumbleUponTechnorati
